He’s not Santa Clause but He watches over you sleeping ~Kim-Evinda

Many people struggle with sleep…in fact, what we use to sleep may be blocking us from true rest and rejuvenation. What was meant to rejuvenate us has come to frustrate us, but that was never His intention. In fact, did you know you could experience God in your sleep?
Thanks for joining us for Monday’s Message with Abigail Rice and Trench Classes United. Today’s message has some thought-provoking statements about the why of sleep and the how to sleep better.

I’ve been listening to a lot of sermons
And podcasts as of late
Since that seems to be the only way to get the word of God
In this current season with everything on my plate
(a.k.a. The fourth trimester…)

and the other day I listened to an interview
With Stephanie Ike, that brought a whole new world to life

Sleep

Sleep is what I so desperately need
But it seems to have been robbed of me
Most of my life…

I’ve always tried to find different remedies
From melatonin, meditations, weed, wine, tinctures, teas, all the things
To just help me fall asleep

and it dawned on me
That all of those things have been blocking me
From my receiving what I truly need
Through my dreams…

In this podcast with Stephanie Ike
She mentioned a shocking statistic
At least to me
That we sleep on average for ⅓ of our lives
and if God created us to be with Him all the time
Then why would He not be there for ⅓ of our life?

He speaks through our dreams
And I don’t just mean the prophetic kind
But your every night basic dreams
He is there
Trying to speak to you
While you sleep

But so many if not majority of us can’t hear or see while we sleep because we have blocked Him off
By doing things that don’t set the tone for God

Our bed is an altar
And whatever we take there
Stays there
Until we set the tone
As a true time and place to be with God

God wants to be with you
To speak to you
He is working and moving
And mending and healing
While you are asleep
Because God doesn’t sleep

He is outside of time
But we don’t take the time
To truly think about that
And truly thank Him for that…

We treat sleep so casually
Like it’s just something we need
To have enough energy for the next day ahead
Yet we wake up and douse ourselves in caffeine
To go about our routine
Never truly thinking
God, what’s on your agenda today…?

We go step by step
Check by check
Just to make it to the next thing
Whether that’s Netflix and wine at the end of the night
Or a workout and some me time
That usually ends in scrolling
Or toiling around until it’s too late to even think
And your head hits the hay
Before you even get a chance to pray

So I challenge you tonight
Before you go to sleep
Turn off all screens
The TV
The phone
The noise machines
and just be alone

Be alone with God
Read a book
Listen to the word as you fall asleep
Pray for God to meet you in your sleep
To speak

and be ready

Put a journal by your bed
and when you wake
First thing
Write it all down
And ask His Spirit to bring to remembrance
The things that He said

I’m not saying it will come easily
Or naturally

I’ve been at this for a couple weeks now
Giving things up
Then giving back in
Staying up too late
Then regretting decisions

But all along
My heart’s desire has been true
and I have been praying to be in tune
With His Spirit
and His Word

and I know what I have prayed
He has heard

Because He has lead me here
On this journey
To the set the tone
Not just for the night
But for the rest of my life
